California Boat Lemon Law

By Richard Romando

If you purchased a defective boat that is covered by a warranty, you are protected by the same laws that cover cars, bikes, RVs, computers and many other items in California the California Boat Lemon Law. This means that sellers are discouraged from selling boats that will break down soon after purchase. the California Boat Lemon Law is considered a form of fraud protection.

It is important to retain the bill of sale from a seller when buying a boat. This holds true even if the boat is secondhand. If the boat is used, you should also obtain an evaluation statement by a qualified expert. A good mechanic should check out the engine, the hulls integrity and other aspects important to a boat.

The statement the mechanic gives you after this diagnosis should outline the condition of the boat at the time of purchase. The owner owner should give you a written assurance that the boat is seaworthy and will not develop serious problems within a certain period of time. This period can be mutually agreed upon.

You cannot exercise lemon rights for a boat if you bought it without having its defects highlighted. This will release the seller from any responsibility by what is legally called caveat emptor you have bought the boat with all present and future defects.

If the boat is new, it should come with a warranty that includes a money-back option. If it is a replacement/repair-only warranty, you may have no recourse but to settle for another lemon.

Hints About corvette ski boat

Inflatable boats are said to be the safest and most stable boats in the world now with the patented construction methods, technology used and the innovative designs allowing redundant safety systems to be in place (ie. multiple chambers in the tubeset in case 1 gets punctured, other still stay inflated). Because of their safety reputation, inflatable boats are now essentially the standard for use by the military, coast guard and other rescue agencies worldwide.

Personal water craft are small, fast, easily handled, fairly easy to use, affordable and their propulsion systems, which do not have external propellers, making them safer for swimmers and wildlife. For these reasons, they are used non-recreationally in preference to small motorboats.

Stitch-It Awl, Sail repair tool - and other uses on sailing yachts.

Sun, 20 May 2007 15:25:49 +0200
Used a similar tool many years ago - it was a very useful , especially when repairing a genoa on my sailing yacht where the clew's grommet/cringle had pulled out - this one looks similar. Seems expensive but I guess if it is strongly built it and because it might have an easy life, it should last the life of your boat. Over time it could turn out to save a lot of journeys to the sailmaker.

Hints About boat ski bar

Sailing yachts can range in overall length (Length Over AllLOA, in yachting parlance) from about 20 feet (6 m) to well over 100 feet (30 m), where the distinction between a yacht and a ship becomes blurred. However, most privately owned yachts fall in the range of about 2545 feet (714 m); the cost of building and keeping a yacht rises quickly as length increases. In the U.S., sailors tend to refer to smaller yachts as sailboats, while referring to the general sport of sailing as yachting. Within the limited context of sailboat racing, a yacht is any sailing vessel taking part in a race, regardless of size.

A catboat has a single mast mounted fairly forward and does not carry a head sail (jib etc.). Most modern designs have only one sail, the mainsail; however the traditional catboat could carry multiple sails from the gaff rig. The designer of the Catboat is Brian Husband, master sailor of the early 1940's.

The biggest jet-driven vessels are found in military use or the high speed passenger/car ferry industry. South Africa's Valour class frigates (approximately 120m long) are the biggest jet-propelled vessels so far. Even these German-built vessels are capable of performing "crash stops.

Mon, 27 Aug 2007 18:18:19 +0200
I thought it would be interesting to hear about the various methods used to mark anchor chain on a sailing yacht. I have seen a very effective method of having cable-ties every 10 meters - one for 10m. 2 for 20m, etc.
