Traveling With A Boat

By Trevor Kugler
Trevor KuglerLevel: Platinum20 year fishing addict, especially ultralight river fishing ...

For those individuals who like to travel and explore new places, having a boat with them can be a huge advantage. The possibilities that a boat can offer the average traveler are almost endless. The problem is that towing along a boat can not only be expensive, but it can also be quite a pain in the butt. So how in the world does a person travel with a boat and not tow it behind their vehicle? By moving into the twenty first century and getting your hands on a quality inflatable boat, that's how. When you're dealing with an inflatable boat, traveling with a boat just got a whole lot more convenient.

Now before you roll your eyes and start thinking that an inflatable boat is out of the question, hear me out. Inflatable boats have come a long way from the type of inflatable boat that you're thinking of. Technology has enabled manufacturers to produce extremely high quality boats that happen to be inflatable. If you so choose, you can even get quality inflatable boats that a motors can be attached to without any problem. Some inflatable boats even come with very long warranties against springing leaks and such.

How convenient would it be to travel with a boat that could easily fit in the trunk of your car? Do you think being able to store your boat in a small place might be an advantage to an RV user? Of course, the answer to both of these questions is a resounding YES. The convenience and affordability that an inflatable boat has to offer is hard to beat.

The bottom line is that traveling with a boat doesn't have top be an expensive and cumbersome pain in the butt. There are alternatives that not only save in traveling expenses, but also in the cost of the boat itself. Inflatables are a fraction of the cost of a 'traditional'. So the next time you think traveling with a boat is more trouble than its worth remember, it doesn't have to be.

Tips On boat

Day sailing yachts are usually small sub-20-feet (6 m) in length. Sometimes called dinghies, they often have a retractable keel, centerboard, or daggerboard. Most day sailing yachts do not have a cabin, as they are designed for hourly or daily use and not for overnight journeys. At best they may have a 'cubby', where the front part of the hull has a raised solid roof to provide a place to store equipment or to provide basic shelter from wind or spray.

After purchasing your boat, the next sensible step would be to insure it against the usual hazards of owning a boat which include damage, sinking, collision, theft etc, along with third party insurance especially if your boat is to be moored in a marina or harbour. You will also find guidance and links on boat insurance within the Boat Insurance section. Remember that insurance on a boat is not a legal requirement, unlike car insurance, though it may be required if you have any form of marine finance.

The Caribbean waters around Margarita Island are perfect for sail boats. They are below the hurricane belt and are a perfect area to spend some time here. They are a duty free port and you can re-stock your supplies at costs much lower than other islands of the Caribbean. One of the major stores that cater specifically to the yachting crowd is Sigo La Proveeduria located on the outskirts of Porlamar.

Tips When Buying Used Fishing Boats

By Stefan Jonsson

Before you head out looking for a used fishing boat you need to check your budget. Don't buy a too expensive boat as it might bother you later and you might have to sell the boat to shake out some money. Instead settle for a price range before you start looking and don't let yourself get sucked into the 'I got to have this one!'

Is the boat clean? If the seller hasn't bothered cleaning it before selling, what are the odds that he has been treating it good the time he had it? It's more important than you think. It's much better to buy a clean fishing boat from a pedant. Then you have a lesser chance of running into 'hidden errors'.

Don't buy a boat because you feel it's a great deal. Always have a look around and compare the price on it. A boat is just like a car and loses a lot of value in the beginning. Try to find the point where the value loss is not as steep anymore.

Even if you buy a used fishing boat online, from a local dealer or newspaper class fields it can be good to contact an expert. The expert can make a thorough examination of the boat and find errors you never would have. You can find a local boat expert simply by Googling for it and they usually charge around $10 per linear foot.

If you buy a newer used boat you should check the warranty. It feels a lot safer to buy a boat that has warranty. The first test rounds are critical and if something fails then you can easily use the warranty.

I hope that you liked these tips and I will come back with more good tips about used fishing boats.

Marinas are the top of the range as far as moorings are concerned. Moorings in a marina tend to provide deep water throughout the day and therefore a jetty or pontoon is provided so that you can walk to your boat without getting wet. These are known as Pontoon Moorings. They will also provide most of the facilities that you require whilst using your boat. These may include showers and toilets, chandlery, parking, cafe and even a clubhouse. The security provided by a marina will be good and in many cases will include electronic access gates and CCTV camaras.

Sailing/cruising To Achieve One's Goals.

Sun, 19 Aug 2007 16:55:16 +0200
After reading Liz Clark's sailing blog, my husband and I started talking about what was so refreshing about it (besides the good grammar and pics!). Well, the thing that jumped out was the fact that this cruiser wasn't identifying herself as a cruiser but instead as a surfer-girl. Her outlook on life, her goals, where she's going and what she's doing doesn't simply focus on "cruising" for the sake of cruising. We realized that we were craving another viewpoint like this. We absolutely love to hear about people who are achieving another life goal where sailing/cruising happens to be a conduit to the achievement. What do you all think?
