More Information On colgate 26 sailboat

Most large yachts, 50 feet (15 m) and up, are also cruisers, but their design varies greatly as they are often "one off" designs tailored to the specific needs of the buyer. The interior is often finished in wood panelling, with plenty of storage space. Cruisers are quite capable of taking on long-range passages of many thousands of miles. Such boats have a cruising speed upwards of 6 knots. This basic design is typical of the standard types produced by the major yacht-builders.

Hunter Class - South Africa - Official Website

8 Feb 2008 07:00:03 +0200
Hunter Boats was started in 1969, with the first "famous" boat being the NATIONAL SQUIB, designed and finished by Oliver Lee, and moulded by the Essex Boat Company. The Squib has gone on to reach national status with more than 800 on the water. In 1970, a chap named Michael Poland requested that the builder design a "lid" for the Squib, to enable him to sail it across the English Channel. As Poland's other favourite past-time was hunting, the boat was named the HUNTER 19! Oliver also designed a Squib with a lifting keel, called a TRACER, and then redesigned the Hunter 19 naming the new boat the EUROPA.

The Value Of Your Boat Loan

By Abhishek Agarwal

The value of the boat loan is critical to help one determine your ability to get a loan in the first place, the maximum amount that you are eligible for, and whether the boat is in fact worth the final over all cost with interest added to principal. When you buy a boat from a dealer of good repute, there should be no problems in this process, as the boat is always valued at the high end of what it is worth. However, if you are looking for a loan on a second hand boat or from a smaller dealer, things may not be as easy. In such case you will need to get the boat valued by a certified officer in order for the financing facility to determine if the loan amount requested is worth the value of the boat.

Considerations In values

Many factors play a role in the boat loan value.

When you are trying to purchase a used boat on finance basis, the financing authority needs to determine if the boat is worth the amount asked for based on the condition, age and wear and tear on the boat. A boat which is valued at least at the sale price if not higher will ensure that you get enough funds in hand to purchase it from the seller. In such case of a used boat it needs to be appraised by an officer, either at your cost since you are buying the boat and need the loan, the sellers cost since he wishes to sell hi boat, or a combination of the two. The basic intention of the appraiser is to determine if the amount asked on loan is not higher than the amount the boat is really worth.

From a buyers' point of view this value can also help you decide whether in fact you would like to go ahead with the sale. The boat may be valued at much less than what you figured it out to be, making it a bad idea, In that case you would not get too much when you in turn would want to dispose of the boat in a couple of years time. On the other hand, if the appraiser states it at a higher value than you had expected this could be a good opportunity for you to invest. More often than not the financer's appraisal will be at the higher end so as to recover their boat value from you as quickly as possible, while they still hold the loan title and can confiscate the boat should you default.

As you can see there is a lot of paperwork involved when you want finance for a used boat, but it is worth the deal if you are getting a bargain that will not lose too much appraisal value in a few years time.

Tips About siren sailboat

Your boats seaworthiness can depend on the load you put in it and where you put it. Too much weight can overload your boat and cause it to become unstable or allow small waves to come aboard. It will also reduce the amount your boat can roll before its sides dip under. Weight that is carried too high will reduce stability, making your boat more apt to roll and less inclined to return to an upright position

Hurricane DEAN - warning for the Caribbean

Fri, 17 Aug 2007 15:36:18 +0200
Hurricane Dean - a warning has been issued for the Caribbean and in particular to St Lucia and Martinique. Dean had been looking a little more ragged on satellite this morning due to some dry air intrusion, and a bit of westerly shear. However recent visible and enhanced IR satellite loops indicate Hurricane Dean's structure has improved, and may be starting the forecasted steady strengthening. In fact, the 5:00 a.m. advisory reported a minimum central pressure of 976 mb or 28.82 inches. This intermediate advisory reports a central pressure of 970 mb or 28.64 inches. This is considered a rapid drop in pressure (defined as a drop of 2.0 mb per hour). Max winds are still at 100 mph, and will take probably a couple of advisories to respond to any pressure drop. Dean is forecast to become a major hurricane in 36 hours, and is forecast between 72 and 96 hours to become a CATEGORY 4 HURRICANE with winds near 145 mph.

Water Purification On Boats

Tue, 30 Oct 2007 20:45:45 +0200
I came across this product AQUA SALVEO for water purification. Just wondering has anyone used this product OR any other product to do this job. My boat has been sitting for 4 years now and I suspect the water is maybe older than that. I can't remove the tanks without some major demolition and reconstruction work so is this the best alternative.

Mon, 3 Mar 2008 10:21:38 +0200
I am looking for crew to help sail my boat to Asia this year. I usually sail single handed but am getting bored with my own company. The boat is a steel Van Dam Nordia Ketch. You do not need to be particularly experienced but some prior offshore sailing would be useful. Join the boat in Turkey in the spring. There are 3 separate cabins and 2 heads. We have dive gear and a compressor on board and will be diving along the way. All you need is a contribution towards your own food and drink. Genuine, happy and interesting people only please.
